Good Shepherd Ranch is the premier breeder and farm for America’s oldest line of poultry.
Chicken
“A chicken is no better than the farmer behind it. And the genetics, of course,” says Frank Reese, whose chickens are one of the only flocks in America to receive certification by the American Poultry Association, and the USDA, as 100% purebred Heritage, standards that were set in 1873 to define and defend best practices in American farming. From the Delaware, New Hampshire, or Plymouth Rock breed.
Good Shepherd chickens can be traced back over 100 years, are 100% antibiotic free, and are pasture raised. This is by far the juiciest, most flavorful bird on the market today.
Guinea
A guinea tastes similar to pheasant and consists of mostly dark meat that is rich and burgundy in color, but it does not taste gamey. Frank explains that the white meat on a guinea is richer than the dark meat of a chicken! These are juicy, tender, and meaty birds yet lean, low in cholesterol, and rich in essential fatty acids.
