Rosemary Maple & Sea Salt Almonds
by Nuts+Nuts in California
Two 2.5 oz bags

A 2023 Good Food Award winner, these tasty Nonpareil almonds are grown in California's San Joaquin Valley, then slow roasted in small batches using organic pure maple syrup from a family owned orchard in Vermont, rosemary, sea salt, and California extra virgin olive oil. Delectably crunchy, salty, sweet, and rosemary infused - we must say, they're hard to stop eating!

California produces over 2.5 billion pounds of almonds a year - 80% of the world's almonds and 100% of the United States commercial supply. Although almonds are not native to California, the hot, dry Mediterranean-like climate of the San Joaquin Valley creates favorable conditions for cultivation. The first crops in the 1850's were of European varieties that were not acclimated to the weather conditions and yielded poor crops. Production has steadily increased since the 1880's when new varieties that were more adapted to local climate conditions were introduced, like the Nonpareil, and as growers learned about the need for cross-pollination and water irrigation systems.

Today, Nonpareil is still the dominant variety!
