ANSON MILLS FINE YELLOW POLENTA — finely textured, stone-milled heirloom corn polenta from South Carolina — One 12 oz resealable bag
Anson Mills Fine Yellow Polenta Cold-Milled Heirloom Corn 12 oz resealable bag
We've been huge fans of Anson Mills over the years and now we're so proud to share one of our favorite items in the Heritage Foods Larder! Their fine yellow polenta is a standard-bearer for a super-smooth and buttery porridge made in the Italian tradition. Simply whisk into boiling water or stock then cook low and slow for around 30 minutes and finish with butter or a lump of mascarpone and grated Parmigiano Reggiano for a rich and satisfying accompaniment to braised Heritage pork. Try it with our Ojibwe Maple Syrup for a delicious breakfast!
Beginning with Carolina Gold rice in the early 2000s, Glenn Roberts founded Anson Mills in Columbia, South Carolina aiming to revitalize the genetics of regional heirloom grains, grits and beans. Glenn partners with growers, mills to order in small batches, and ships directly to chefs and home cooks who adore the nuanced flavor and superior texture of these grains.
Anson Mills breeds for flavor, not for shelf life, ease of transport, or visual appeal. Their growers seek to impart their own regionalterroir into the grains, practicing sustainable seedsmanship, planting practices, and crop rotation. Glenn's products have become a benchmark among chefs nationwide for cold-milled grits, polenta, rice and flours. His mission is not unlike that of Heritage Foods in that we have to eat these foods to save them!
